Geophilomorpha?

Geophilomorpha?

If this in fact a soil centipede can anyone take this down further?

Moved
Moved from ID Request.

Few of these seem to get taken further than order, but there's always hope. :)

P. ferrugineum? maybe
Based on the number of segments and the location, plus the "short" body if I had to guess I would say Pachymerium ferrugineum, but without a ventral view of the head it's impossible to say fpr certain. If you find another, look at the underside of the head and if

a) the forcipules (venom fangs) extend beyond the front edge of the cephalic plate (the plate covering the head) and

b) there are 2 small teeth on the prosternum, the flat area just posterior to the fang-bearing appendages

then it is P. ferrugineum.

Are you confident of the genus?
If so, we can move it that far, at least.

Not really, sorry.
Not really, sorry. Ferrugineum is the only species in that genus from the eastern U.S.
