Beach Ground Beetle - Agonum decorum

Beach Ground Beetle - Agonum decorum
Cannon Beach, Clatsop County, Oregon, USA
March 30, 2013
Size: 5 to 8 mm estimate
Found near the surf.

Agonum decorum green-glabrous form --det. J. Liebherr
[oblique angles are extremely confusing, as in this case...]

Moved from ID Request.

Western "Agonum decorum green/blue glabrous morph"
(= junior synonym Agonum californicum Dejean) versus typical eastern "Agonum decorum red hirsute morph" are more or less the designations used by Liebherr (1994) but I would prefer that the morphs be returned to distinct species.

PWM note: Lth:628 states forebody A. californicum greenish or bluish; % corroborated by 1 glabrous ex fr CA-Inyo Co w bluish forebody.

meditated on it for a while... best guess, A. muelleri
