Microscope Beetle - Pactopus horni

Microscope Beetle - Pactopus horni
Vancouver, Clark County, Washington, USA
April 1, 2013
Size: 4 mm
I used the dino-lite microscope on this beetle that I picked up on a walk. The magnification is pretty decent. However, the camera resolution is poor. Also it comes out a little dark.

I found anoother one
I put it on the ID request page.

replaced with the lightened version...

P. horni
Any chance of lightening up these images (esp. the dorsal habitus shots)? This species isnt frequently photographed on BG so it would be nice to retain them. But as they stand now, they are not of much diagnostic value. :-/

Does this help?
I attempted to try lightening a couple of photos. This beetle is just very dark brown. It is hard to both lighten and get good contrast. Let me know if the added photos are useful. Also if there is a particular feature you want me to try to highlight.

Blaine..
Just added new images of what I believe is P. horni, please review (757070)...

Thanks,

Gary

Blaine..
I may have one mounted on a point that I could send some images of if you would like?
