Fat Black and Red Beetle - Megetra

Fat Black and Red Beetle - Megetra
S end of Malpais National Monument, Grant County, New Mexico, USA
August 2, 2008
I've only seen these once (and then they were all over the place), and the photo is so bad that I've put off asking for an ID. Found in a meadow near lots of rocks. Most of them appeared to be almost bursting from their exoskeletons. Any ideas? Thanks for your help.

Moved from ID Request.

Blister Beetle
In the genus Megetra

Thank you
I've wondered about this one a long time. I would have never looked in Blister Beetles though. Thank you.
