Millipede - Strigamia bothriopus

Millipede - Strigamia bothriopus
Kittatinny State Park, Sussex County, New Jersey, USA
April 7, 2013

Moved
Moved from Soil Centipedes.

Strigamia bothriopus
Based on bright red color, leg count, and tapering of body width toward the head.

It's been suggested that the "pinheaded" structure of Strigamia is so they can stick their head inside a prey item and eat its liquid insides without having to chew through a lot of chitin.

Moved
Moved from ID Request.

One pair of legs per segment = centipede.
