The closest I can find is the moth identified as Prodoxus intricatus in Fig. 69 here.

Your prognosis of Prodoxus intricatus seems to match the pinned image you referenced, as well as the written description. However, in making a guide page, I found that it is “Presently known only from Veracruz and Oaxaca in southeastern Mexico.” Not only is this quite a ways from southwestern Texas, but it's not even listed in Hodges 1983. Hopefully, Ed Knudson will have some insight on this.
