Hepatica sawfly - Monophadnus aequalis - female

Hepatica sawfly - Monophadnus aequalis - Female
Cane Creek Canyon Nature Preserve, Tuscumbia, Colbert County, Alabama, USA
April 7, 2013
Ovipositing in hepatica leaves. I wondered if it might be Pseudodineura parva, although it struck me as a bit large for a leafminer. I saved the specimen, as well as some leaves containing eggs.

Moved
Moved from Blennocampinae.

Moved

Tenthredinidae, Blennocampinae
Not Pseudodineura parva (Nematinae). The wings put it in Blennocampinae and it most resembles a Periclista. Hepatica is not a known host for any blennocampines, and especially Periclista which feeds on oaks. Not sure what to say. Maybe I could see the specimen sometime?

Absolutely
I'll send you all the sawflies I have after (I hope) the ones I have overwintering in the fridge emerge. I have leafminers from Anemone and Vaccinium plus a fern feeder or two.
