Size: 11.5 mm

This individual keys out to nebraskensis after re-evaluation.

Brad, feel free to re-examine the specimen I sent to you. The size of the punctures on the proepisternum is a relative measurement separating this species from pennsylvanicus. There is still a chance the specimen I sent you is pennsylvanicus, because these two species often co-occure.

Moved from Chlaenius pennsylvanicus pennsylvanicus.

Thanks for catching the mistake!
This is a very tricky group to key out. (At least to me)

Chlaenius pennsylvanicus Say
Moved from Vivid Metallic Ground Beetles. Corrected ID using (1)

makes sense --thanks!
how about changing the title accordingly to avoid confusion?

hmmm...... habitus doesn't exactly fit this subgenus...
Moved from ID Request.

you're right of course
made an error in interpreting Lindroth's key; I believe it is C. nebraskensis now, but will move to genus level until I can verify
