Helophorus lineatus Say, male
Moved from Helophorus orientalis. Revised ID, tentative.

I recant my previous ID, as I cannot reconcile that this is a male H. orientalis. The specimen has gunk in the lateral pronotal grooves making it difficult to see the shape. Your photos seem to show them at least slightly widened, if not more. Otherwise, this matches well with your other specimens which are clearly H. lineatus.

Helophorus orientalis Motschulsky, male
Moved from Helophorus. ID'd from specimen, now a photo-voucher. Thanks Tom.

An unusual specimen, in that H. orientalis is mostly parthenogenic in North America. Smetana (1) says all males seen by him were from the western USA and only one has been recorded from the east (New York in 1945). The aedeagus of the specimen is as illustrated by Smetana.
