Photo use
I am writing a press release for a sawfly paper I recently published and was hoping to use this photo in it. If given permission to use the photo I will of course give you full attribution as the photographer.

species
I had considered it might be a sawfly, but then I read that adult sawflies feed mostly on nectar and the Tenthredinidae may feed on insects. I was surprised to see it eating so much of the leaf.
Thank you for the information!

host info may prove critical in identifying sawfly species. also, pls note that size data only help if measured in mm, otherwise the field is better left blank; estimates are useless for identification purposes, and more often mislead than help.

host plant
Thank you! I was trying to figure out what kind of plant it was eating. I believe it was coralberry, as Dave Smith noted.
