Skimmer, Dragonfly, Basket Tail or Snake Tail? - Epitheca

Skimmer, Dragonfly, Basket Tail or Snake Tail? - Epitheca
Cottonwood, Tehama County, California, USA
April 13, 2013
Size: 2" by 1.5 "
I was standing in a mixed woodland of Pinyon Pines and California Live Oak not far from a pond. This dragonfly fluttered around briefly before landing about five feet above my head on a dead oak twig. I set the camera to macro and zoomed in for the shot. (The only one I got, unfortunately; it was breezy and the insect flew away).
