Larval enclosure of Weevil Beetle - Coniatus splendidulus

Larval enclosure of Weevil Beetle - Coniatus splendidulus
near Gila River, NE of Winkleman, Gila County, Arizona, USA
April 7, 2013
Size: approx 2 mm (body)
Found on Salt Cedar branches near a permanent river in Sonoran Desert area, well attended by several ants; it was actively moving inside, but after taking the enclosure home and hoping to see what emerged it apparently died. The following pictures are of the tiny weevil it contained - I know it's very difficult to make any ID, but I thought it was interesting to see the larval enclosure.
