long tongued bee? or a bee mimic? - Bombylius major

long tongued bee? or a bee mimic? - Bombylius major
Waterloo, Monroe County, Illinois, USA
April 17, 2013
Size: roughly 1/2"
Not really certain if this is a bee or a fly...It didn't stay put for any amount of time so getting a good pic was difficult...I couldn't get a front shot.

Thinking B. major, but I can't see the wing pattern as clearly as I'd like.

B. major looks good to me, too.
I'd say it's safe to move.

wings...
It was windy and it didn't sit still for long, and it was difficult to see through the camera against the dirt...major looks like a good fit...I've been trying to get it's pic for a few days now, this was the first time it held still long enough for me to focus and shoot before it buzzed off. I'll try to find it again and get a better shot.
