Are you sure?
Take another look at the third pic. I don't see any
Anastoechus
in the Guide with that kind of wing pattern. It looks very close to
B. major
to me--or am I missing something?

wonder, I think it is by far the prettiest bee fly I have seen! I think some women would pay a lot of money for hair that color. :-)
