Look! Up in the sky! It's Anastoechus sp.!
One of my faves and nicely rendered, Tamra. Yours has the nicely shaped and neat "coat" I prefer; some look more bed-head.

 
Are you sure?
Take another look at the third pic. I don't see any Anastoechus in the Guide with that kind of wing pattern. It looks very close to B. major to me--or am I missing something?

Ken is right on wing pattern. B. major it is.
(Sorry for any confusion. I got too wrapped up in the fuzzy abdomen.)

 
And no
wonder, I think it is by far the prettiest bee fly I have seen! I think some women would pay a lot of money for hair that color. :-)
