Found deep in Hyacinth leaves that have clearly been eaten. Also happily easting Miners Lettuce (Claytonia perfoliata).

Xestia?
It lacks some of the patterning I would expect on N. pronuba, but take a look at Xestia dolosa/c-nigrum.

Thanks for the comment. I know almost nothing about caterpillars and resources seem a little harder to come by. We have this guy and a couple of friends set up in a large bucket with soil, twigs and plenty of food so we will have to wait and see what happens.

ID does seem to be a smidge easier for most of the adults.

Yellow underwing?
Overnight the caterpillar focused more on Taraxacum and Claytonia than Hyacinthia.

I am starting to wonder if this is a Noctua
