Size: ~25 mm
the camera flash made the colors more vivid and accentuated the pattern. In reality, it appeared a dull and lustless dark-brown. What a bizarre creature! It had the ability to retract it's head when it felt threatened.

Yes it's a firefly larva, and being from Vermont, I'm pretty sure it's a Pyractomena....not a final call, being over here in Arizona, but there's not much more up there that it could be....
