Moved from Bee Flies.

Head is very odd for a bee fly.
However, I have no alternate placement in mind.

Moved from ID Request.

Bombyliidae or near
Bombyliidae or something that was split out of Bomblyiidae.

neat thanks!
would any further pictures help?

I find the key in Manual of Nearctic Diptera nearly impossible to use. I generally leave ID to the experts.

A brighter picture would help. If you're using a camera with exposure compensation try +1.
