Vagrant Firetip in SoCal? - Strymon melinus - male

Vagrant Firetip in SoCal? - Strymon melinus - Male
Mojave National Rec Area, San Bernardino County, California, USA
April 19, 2013
Size: small butterfly
I observed this butterfly in southern California desert in April. I can't find anything like it in Kaufmann. The red tip to the abdomen suggests a vagrant fire tip, but I found no fire tips on the internet with hindwing submarginal red patches. any ideas?

How about Gray Hairstreak?
The male Gray Hairstreak (Strymon melinus) has an orange abdomen, viewed from above, and the hindwing orange/red patches are consistent too.

Gray Hairstreak
Thank you, Doug, Gray Hairstreak is it. This photo looked so black on the upper wing, I skipped over Gray Hairstreak, but the markings are right and the "Hairstreak" tail is present.
