This guy had the audacity to land on Clarkia affinis while I was photographing the flower. 36.66746°N, 121.03207°W; 2744 ft. elevation.

Thevenetimyia tridentata. It has an extra marginal cell.

Thevenetimyia affinis?
I'm pretty sure that's what is from the wing veins, but color and fuzziness of thorax gives me pause.
