Beetle was found flying low over a wash on the west side of the Carrizo Plain. Caught for photos and released.

Art Evans says, "Phobetus is a mess and in need of revision.
"I am not sure of the species in Joyce's photo, other than it is something near
humeralis
. I am not familiar with any species of
Phobetus
taken in Carrizo Plain.
