Palp image

Unfortunately I'm not so confident I can tell the difference between some of these Enoplognatha species even from the diagrams in Levi 1957. If I had to guess though, I'd say from the new palp image that it looks more like joshua than intrepida or wyuta.

Sure, if you'd like! Ideally, you might see if you can rotate the palp around and get an image that matches one of the figures on p. 16 of Levi 1957, which is available online here: http://digitallibrary.amnh.org/dspace/handle/2246/324

Again, I find these kind of confusing so I may not be able to help confirm, but one of the more knowledgeable folks here might be able to. :)

Enoplognatha intrepida?

I agree the eyes look odd for E. ovata. What about E. intrepida?

The chelicerae seem to match here too, and I think I see similar details in the palps (but the angles are not good for comparison).

I think he's got it! Though with those other species to look at I'm not sure how we can be sure it's not one of those others. CO lists intrepida, joshua, marmorata, ovata & wyuta.

That's true. I just looked through Levi 1957 and while the chelicerae on marmorata are quite different, I think we'd need the palps to tell between the others.

Those jaws remind me of Enoplognatha ovata

but the eyes don't look right. The eyes look like a cobweb spider?
