large ant - Camponotus pennsylvanicus

large ant - Camponotus pennsylvanicus
Champaign County, Illinois, USA
May 5, 2013
I found this ant on a peony bud. It seems like something in Camponotus, except that it was definitely more than a centimeter long, which doesn't match anything I can find.

Major
The largest workers are called majors, and can be 10 mm or more. This appears to be Camponotus pennsylvanicus.
