Odd red and black wingless insect

Odd red and black wingless insect
Smyrna, Cobb County, Georgia, USA
May 8, 2013
Found inside my home by a large window. It was about the size of a carpenter ant. It did not appear to be aggressive when I forced it to crawl on a piece of paper in order carry it outside for release.

Moved
Moved from Thick-headed Flies.

From the antennae, it's a safe bet this is in subfamily Conopinae. But since it apparently recently pupated...and is not fully "pumped up" in wings and body shape, and "cured" in coloration...it's hard to place it to genus. (Though I'd tentatively guess Physoconops.)

Moved from ID Request.

It's got wings...
...but they haven't unfurled yet. I'm thinking one of the Thick-headed Flies (Conopidae):

Others will be able to say for sure.
