Glowworm!!! - Phengodes

Glowworm!!! - Phengodes
Basking Ridge, Somerset County, New Jersey, USA
May 5, 2013
Size: ~ 1 inch
Although it hasn't eaten since I found it, it's shed its skin TWICE. In this picture, it had finished shedding the yellow skin about an hour before and is still soft.

Its container contains 2 millipedes, about the biggest I’ve found in my yard (only slightly longer than the glowworm.) and some other species of millipede. I also put a paper towel that fits the bottom of the container, and I make sure to keep it moist. It hasn’t eaten anything since I’ve found it, but it shed its skin TWICE since I found it. It started out black and then shed, and it’s now yellow.

Does anyone know why / how it’s shedding without eating? Doesn’t that mean it’s growing? Is it just drinking a lot?
