beetle - Catops paramericanus - male

beetle - Catops paramericanus - Male
Townsend, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, USA
May 12, 2013
Size: 2.5mm
Found on a dead animal.

Catops paramericanus Peck & Cook, male
Moved from Catops. ID'd from specimen, including examination of male genitalia, now a photo-voucher. Thanks Tom.

No MA records in Peck & Cook 2002 (although New York and New Hampshire records are extremely close to MA border), so apparently a new state record.

Catops paramericanus
Thanks Brad! I posted it in the Bug Guide firsts list for Latin American Bug Guide project.
