Biting Balaustium?
Has anyone heard of these or other velvet mites biting people? I had some crawling on me today in a raspberry patch and after I brushed them off, there was a very pronounced 'stinging nettle' sensation in the places they'd been. There were no noticeable marks and the stinging lasted about an hour.

Moved
Moved from ID Request.

Erythraeidae
These are erythraeid mites in the genus Balaustium. Once the borders are removed I can move them to the appropriate guide page.

Borders
Please note the instructions on every image submission form "For consistency, please do not include any borders or other decorations around your image."

Also, all images should be cropped to "just the bug".

You can click "edit" to upload appropriate replacement images.
