Spider Mite (Petrobia sp.) - Petrobia

Spider Mite (Petrobia sp.) - Petrobia
Oklahoma County, Oklahoma, USA
March 4, 2013
Size: ~1mm
I found this weird red mite crawling along the edge of my turtle pond in early March. I posted the photos on Flickr, where Ray Fisher identified it as a spider mite. He said "This is a spider mite (Tetranychidae) in the genus Petrobia. Given the description of where you found it (on the ground near water), it is likely Petrobia harti which is quite common on clover... but I can't be confident about that."
