Tai Chi Beetle - Gondwanocrypticus platensis

Tai Chi Beetle - Gondwanocrypticus platensis
University Community Park, Irvine, Orange County, California, USA
May 18, 2013
Newest member of my exercise group, on its asphalt host turf.

"Tai Chi Beetle"
what is the origin of this common name?

Just an attempt at humor since...
...it showed up at my weekly tai chi (supreme ultimate, translated) practice. I also had a qigong (breath masterly) spider.

It's not a bad name
I just saw it on http://nathistoc.bio.uci.edu/coleopt/Gondwanocrypticus%20platensis/index.htm and figured it was an actual defined common name for the species!

Moved
Moved from ID Request.

Gondwanocrypticus platensis

Name
Please provide a translation of that name!

Thanks, =v=
A handsome little guy
