Tan and brown micromoth - Clepsis peritana

Tan and brown micromoth - Clepsis peritana
Odenton, Anne Arundel County, Maryland, USA
May 20, 2013
Size: 6-7 mm long
Tan micromoth with thick, brown markings. The gray/black smudge and speckling is real (not a photo artifact nor dirt on the container the moth is in), though I don't know if it is dirt on the wings. There are circular dots in the subterminal area.

The wing pattern is similar to but duller than the One-Lined Sparganothis, but that moth is twice my moth's size. That's the closest match I found in my Peterson's guide.

This is my first attempt at photographing something tiny with a 2x magnifying glass in the line of sight in lieu of an expensive macro lens. I think it helped at least a little.
