Treehopper - Smilia camelus

Treehopper - Smilia camelus
Columbia, Boone County, Missouri, USA
May 19, 2013
Came to light last night. Only one. Pretty active. Not easy to get a good shot. Measured at least 6mm. I think it's a Treehopper such as Smilia, but S. fasciata or S. camelus?

THANKS!

I'm a beginner
But I recently had #759230 ID'd as S. camelus. I think they are marked the same.

Smilia camelus
more important than the markings is the shape: the crest is vertical in front in this species, and slopes back in the more southerly S. fasciata.

Thank you
for the instruction and for the interesting facts about the Red-shanked Grasshopper.

Thank You!
Isn't this a wonderful education!
