Fly - Empis spectabilis

Fly - Empis spectabilis
Highland Forest, Onondaga County, New York, USA
May 19, 2013
Size: 10mm
Found browsing in leaf litter on the forest floor. Not a rapid flyer.

It looks like a fly, but I thought it was interesting that the wings are not fully transparent and it folds them across the back when at rest.
