Sawfly? - Hemichroa crocea
Charlestown, Kent County, Rhode Island, USA
August 19, 2005
I'm guessing that this is a species of Sawfly. It was feeding on Alder leaves at the edge of a small pond.

ID help will be appreciated.

Nice shot - and nice addition!
Googling alder sawfly brings up a bunch of similar images labelled Hemichroa crocea - Striped Alder Sawfly. Looks like we have a new species for the guide. I've made a guide page : )
