This looks like the images of Lapara coniferarum more than Lapara bombycoides on MPG. Is there a way to tell? coniferarum is recorded in MA but bombycoides is more common. Help?

Both
Lapara
species are found in MA, but I would imagine that
L. coniferarum
is more restricted to southeastern portions of the state where
Pinus rigida
outnumbers
P. strobus
as
L. coniferarum
is primarily a pitch pine feeder in New England while
L. bombycoides
is more associated with white pine woods, at least as per my experience in southern Rhode Island.
