I have the specimen in-hand. It's rather hairy but the prosternal process does not appear to be margined ventrally to the apex. Also, antennomere III is long in comparison to II.

Will forward the link to Hume Douglas to see if the 'gestalt' grabs him :). If correct, another new species for BugGuide (and my reference collection :).

Another useful character is that the pronotal lateral carina (called submarginal line in 2003 revision) joins the lateral edge of the hind angle in C. gagates (nearly all specimens) and it does not in convexulus. The genitalia of either sex would also be indicative.

I would guess by the long antennae that it is a male C. gagates though. It the dense pale hairs actually reminds me most of male gagates from coastal areas from NJ to FL.
