Calliopsis rhodophila - female

Calliopsis rhodophila - Female
Rancho Santa Ana Botanic Garden, Claremont, Los Angeles County, California, USA
May 15, 2013
Size: 6 mm
Found visiting flowers of Malacothamnus fasciculatus. Though there are numerous photos of this species from Orange County at BG, this is the first from Los Angeles County.
For ID used Shinn (1967), double-checked with Doug Yanega.

Nicely done, Hartmut
Now I know what they're supposed to look like!

Thanks, Ron -
also discovered Megachile montivaga in my garden, as well as Diadasia ochracea.
The latter also from Theodore Payne Foundation from where I have actual specimens.
Will post these some time soon.

Good! I have always enjoyed seeing your bees.
