According to "Aphids on the World's Herbaceous Plants and Shrubs"
By Roger L. Blackman, Victor F. Eastop the only Aphid species recorded from Smilax hispida is Neoprociphilus aceris

 
True.
These do not look like Neoprociphilus aceris though. The arrangement of the wax looks more like Prociphilus, but that genus hasn't been recorded on this hostplant. I've seen a handful of other images on the guide like this.
