Underwing Moth - Noctua pronuba

Underwing Moth - Noctua pronuba
Fabius, Onondaga County, New York, USA
June 4, 2013
Size: 32mm
This emerged from a 27mm brown chrysalis found buried in garden soil.

It folded its wings tightly when not in flight. I had to manhandle it to get a photo with even a little of the underwings showing.

Large Yellow Underwing
(Noctua pronuba)

Yes
Thanks. According the info tab on that, I should examine the whole underwing to prove that it is Noctua pronuba and not N. comes.

So I did that and posted an image and now the animal has flown away.
