Tortricidae: Argyrotaenia mariana - Argyrotaenia mariana
Turtle River State Park, Grand Forks County, North Dakota, USA
June 6, 2013
Size: Length ~ 8-9 mm
Revised (08 June 2013): this is the Gray-banded Leaf-roller (Argrotaenia mariana), Hodges 3625.

This specimen has may be an example of the Black-crescent Proteoteras or Northern Boxelder Borer (3233). I've some doubts about its species-specific identity because it lacks the dorsal tufts that seem prominent on other specimens I've photographed, and the distal extent of the crescent seems less prominently pigmented. I'm hoping for a second opinion on this specimen. Thanks for looking! ;-)
