Small Cicada with Wing Spots - Pacarina puella

Small Cicada with Wing Spots - Pacarina puella
Williamson County, Texas, USA
June 8, 2013
Size: body 1/2 inch
This small cicada was on the kitchen screen door in early morning. It appeared very small and very dark, and was new to me. The spots on the wings were not noticeable in natural light, and only showed up when I put the image into the computer. The body was 1/2 inch long (calculated from the screen mesh--1/16" mesh) and with wings was just over 3/4 inch. Body mostly rich reddish brown, markings as shown, wing veins olive green.

First image in color as it appears, but taken w/flash.
