Strawberry Root Weevil - Otiorhynchus ovatus

Strawberry Root Weevil - Otiorhynchus ovatus
Guelph, Wellington, Ontario, Canada
September 19, 2006
Size: 5
Judging by the reddish legs, I'm guessing this is Otiorhynchus ovatus.

Stephen-- pls don't frass
this is one of the best BG photos of this common species, showing its diagn. features very well, unlike most pix here

Moved from Frass.

If you wish, but...
the recent hi-res pics show diagnostic characters better, and Ontario is already represented by the first image.

still...
i don't give a damn about data points, so i'd rather frass a dozen of other pix.
the only thing that is definitely wrong about this submission is the indicated size of 20 mm... among ~1000 described members of this genus maybe a couple exceed 15 mm :))

Frassed

Otiorhynchus ovatus
I'm praticly sure that you are right with Otiorhynchus ovatus

Thanks :-)
