Southern Hairstreak maybe? - Electrostrymon angelia
Pineland on Pine Island , Lee County, Florida, USA
June 9, 2013
Size: around one inch
Never ID'd a Southern Hairstreak before but per my guidebook this one I photographed seems to be missing the white spot on the ventral view. It is definitely more brownish than grayish. Never got a good dorsal view or photo. Maybe there's a male vs female or immature vs adult reason? Request for ID assistance please ...

Looks like Fulvous hairstreak
which is southern Florida only locale. I'm a novice but by the book this specimen has a postmedian line on hindwing which is broken and an isolated white spot near leading edge.

Not in my field guide so didn't know ~ thanks!
A Fulvous Hairstreak isn't even listed in my "Butterflies of FL Field Guide" by Jaret C. Daniels, so I was in the dark. I knew there was a reason it shouldn't be a Southern Hairstreak but that was the closest hairstreak in the field guide I could find as a resemblance. Thanks so much & I will look into a Fulvous Hairstreak further. The photo you provided is a dead ringer in features to my photo. Thanks again!
