This small fly was hovering near some weeds growing between a couple of bricks. I photographed it once it landed. Any help identifying is appreciated.

Moved from Paragus.

Paragus female
Hello Richard,
This is a female in the genus Paragus from the Syrphidae (the false vein 'vena spuria'is very well visible).
This could even be the female of Paragus (subgenus Pandasyopthalmus) haemorrhous, because of the black scutellum.
But there are several other species who are even undescribed yet, so that is not a solid ID yet!
