Oak gall wasp - Amphibolips quercusspongifica

Oak gall wasp - Amphibolips quercusspongifica
Washington County, Ohio, USA
May 14, 2013
Size: 5mm
I collected the gall from an oak tree (red oak group, I believe) on May 14. The gall itself is about 2 inches in diameter. On May 30, I noticed the wasp had emerged from the gall. The body of the wasp is 5mm, and the antennae are 3 mm long (body + antennae 8mm). The exit hole is 2mm in diameter. After looking at photos in the guide, I believe it's in the genus Amphibolips. Perhaps A. quercusspongifica or A. confluenta?
