Synonyms and other taxonomic changes
First described in 1906 by Harrison Gray Dyar, Jr. as Elophila bifascialis ab. kearfottalis (ab. for "aberration" isn't a recognized taxonomic rank). William Barnes & James Halliday McDonnough listed it in their 1917 checklist as Cataclysta kearfottalis, which is considered the official first publication.
Listed in some sources as Parargyactis kearfottalis.

The Hind wing has a white background and a light circular black line near the black fringe line. My [A. Hendrickson] wing length measurement was 8-9 mm.
