Greenish beetle - Megacopta cribraria
Youngsville, Granville County, North Carolina, USA
June 10, 2013
On lettuce in the afternoon. About 85F degrees.

Moved from ID Request.

True bug
This is the invasive stink bug Megacopta cribraria or common name the Kudzu bug. It does feed on kudzu and soybeans and many other legumes (don't know about lettuce). There is a site with a map showing the current distribution of this stink bug since it arrived in Atlanta in 2009.

thank you!
so far i have only seen a few, and not any near my beans. fingers crossed!

thanks again for confirming!

I have thousands around my property. If you are near Kudzu you will too.

Prayers sent!
