I've been seeing different variations on this moth, as well. I suspect that they are morphs of P. flavedana, but like you have posted a couple of them here for expert confirmation. Covell's guide lists 2 Platynota species for our area - P. flavedana and P. idaeusalis - both common. The description identifies the moth with orangeish brown wings with blackish brown shading except near outer margin, heaviest toward costa as diffuse median and st. bands.
