Metamorphosis on an ivy leaf. - Phryganidia californica

Size: Approx one inch.
I have a large number of these hanging from ivy leaves on a plant that's wound around a small oak tree in my front yard. They appear to be in the midst of metamorphosis, and in fact, the lower one is showing what I think are eyes.
