Culicoides crepuscularis Malloch, female (tentative ID)
Moved from Culicoides. Tentatively ID'd from specimen, now a photo-voucher. Thanks Tom.

Very common and widely distributed species. The narrowly separated eyes, swollen third palpal segement, general shape of the antenomeres, and the wing pattern (not very visible in this photo due to wing overlap) helped clue me in to this species. Actually keying using published keys requires slide-mounting specimens to examine the spermatheca (number and shape).

Moved from Biting Midges.
