Appeared outside my window on a dark gray, rainy afternoon. The rain kept it in one place as a few members of the Massachusetts Butterfly Club came by to see it. I am told that this species is fairly common in southeastern Massachusetts but quite rare where I live, in the western half of the state. Curiously, Tom Gagnon, who drove several miles to see this critter in my yard, had one in his own yard the very next day!
