Large Desert Beetle - Derobrachus
Palm Desert, Coachella County, California, USA

Size: approx 3 inches
In a front yard in Palm Springs. Most of them were dead and they had burrowed into the sand.

Derobrachus sp.
There are three species known from CA. Hopefully someone will come along who can ID your specimen.
